Ray Kinnane

I teach English in Japan, mainly in my own small school that I run from home. I also read and edit academic papers written in English by Japanese lecturers and students from the local University.
I try to assist the local community as much as possible with my English and photography.

I spend most of my spare time taking photographs. I travel fairly extensively (as much as possible), mainly within Japan. I am very interested in continuing to learn about Japanese culture, especially popular culture, and comparing it to the Western culture that I am more familiar with. I arrived in Saga, Japan in early 2002, and am likely to stay here for quite a lot longer.

I do feel that Japan, and Japanese culture gets bad press in the Western news outlets that I read, due mainly to misinformation, and misunderstanding of the culture. This weblog is an attempt to correct some of that misinformation, where possible.
