Yutoku shrine, one of the largest and most beautiful Shinto shrines in Saga, is also famous for its hillside of azaleas. Situated on one side of a steep valley, the slope opposite the shrine is covered with azalea bushes, in many shades of pink, purple, red and white. They make a beautiful show in late April ans early May.
I photographed this lady at Kiyomizu waterfall, in Ogi, Saga. She was walking around the nearby temple grounds, and was very pleased an easy to engage in conversation. She was so spritely I was surprised when she told me her age. Japanese people, especially women, do have incredible longevity.
